Are you in the mood for remodeling your home? These clever, fun and functional ideas will get you thinking. Don’t miss out.
1. Store Stuff Under the Stairs
The staircase is that weird tool we use to reach the upper floors of our homes. It usually takes up a lot of space. Why not take advantage of it? A clever way to manage your overflowing shelves with books is to place some of them under the stairs. In a word, turn your staircase into a storage area. It can hold a number of items other than your books. For example, you can use it to store your shoes, children’s toys, favorite collections, etc. Not to mention, it will add personal character to your place.
2. Add Baseboard Drawers
If you are always short on space, think about installing drawers in your baseboards. A few drawers in the bathroom and kitchen can come in very handy for extra blankets, kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies and bathroom stuff.
3. Extend Above Staircase
If there is awkward dead space above the stairs, turn it into a playroom. Your kids will appreciate it. Even if they already have a playroom, they will be thrilled to have another nook in the house designed specially for them. There will be enough space to store a few toys and even a computer. Creating a playroom above the staircase will make the most out of the space above the stairs. Generally speaking, you can turn it into a reading nook, a mini-garden with potted plants, or anything that you wish.
4. Make use of Wasted Space
Have a walk-through of your home and check for wasted space. Use it to store the stuff you never know where to put. As mentioned above, make use of the space above your staircase. In addition, add shoe racks, hanging baskets and storage organizers where applicable. Add built-in storage to your countertops and store away veggies and bread.
5. Go for Pull-out Cabinets In Lieu of Typical Cabinets
Pull-out cabinets have many advantages. First off, you can place them anywhere you want. Second, you can move them effortlessly around the house. So if you are hosting a party and you need that extra space, you can easily put them away for the time being. Also, they provide additional storage space. Lastly, they can make convenient countertops. Whenever you run out of worktops, just use your pull-out cabinets. Pull-out cabinets are great for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms. You can never go wrong with them. So think about replacing some of your typical cabinets with pull-out cabinets and maximize storage and counter space.
6. Make the Most of Your Bay Windows
Apart from beautiful, your bay windows can actually be functional. Create a place to relax or a reading nook by the window by placing a bench. If you often have sleepover guests, go for a trundle bed. It will create additional sleeping space.
7. Use Pegboards as Storage
Spruce up your walls by attaching pegboards to them. Paint them a color of your choice and hang all the stuff that can be hung. You can use a pegboard for all your craft supplies, such as scissors, paint brushes, pencils, crayons, sticking tape, paper, beads, paperclips, etc. Moreover, hang a pegboard in your basement and store all your hand tools like screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, wrenches, cutting tools, tape measures, etc.
With a few great ideas in mind you can perk up your home in no time. We hope you fancy at least one of our suggestions. If not, what clever ways can you think of to remodel your home?
