A couple weeks ago we drove down to Springfield for our nephew’s first birthday. Though sadly, he got sick so his parents delayed plans. I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but here in Missouri the cold and flu season hit hard.
My sister-in-law asked for books for boys, since their daughter is into princesses and the like, they wanted to make sure they had some quality boy books for our nephew. And if you know me at all, you know buying books is one of my favorite things to do! So I set about looking for a fun, age-appropriate book. Since I was also bordering a fleece blanket (thank you Menards for your $2 fleece blankets on Black Friday) with cars and trucks on it, I decided to look for a book related to that theme.
Digger, Dozer, Dumper (amazon affiliate link) ranks high on my list of favorites. First of all, it is on sale right now (typically $7.99). I bought it for $4.50, and now it is $5.05. So buy it before it goes up in price again if you are interested! It had wonderful reviews, but I was still skeptical since I hadn’t read it in person.
I was not disappointed. The book’s illustrations are super cute. Each page contains a fun rhyming poem about a different type of truck. They are fun poems to read, complete with sound effects and vivid imagery. Hurray for well-written kids’ books! The book ends by asking your child which type of truck they liked the most and would like to be.
Since Digger, Dozer, Dumper is geared toward babies and toddlers, it is a durable board book. Rebekah liked it a lot too, even though it is considered a “boy book”. She wasn’t too keen on parting with it. When she thought I wasn’t looking, she pulled it out of Blake’s gift bag. It is one of my new go-to books for baby showers and birthdays. I am also planning on buying one for our boys. 🙂
